Product Description

Whirling Dervish ( Sufi ) was first dated in 12th century. In Turkey, it is the performing of the Mevlevi in a formal ceremony known as Semazen in Turkey in order to reach religious ecstasy. It is a form of Sema or physically active meditation which originated among Sufis. The practice is performed in a traditional dress: a tennure, a sleeveless white frock, the destegul, a long sleeved jacket, a belt, and a black overcoat to be removed before the whirling begins.
Please note that this ceramic item is an original handmade and hand-painted piece and as such there may be small imperfections that distinguish this piece from machine-made counterparts.
